Annie Leibovitz shoots cast of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,’ including Carrie Fisher, for Vanity Fair covers

The stars of Star Wars are cowl stars for the June difficulty of Vanity Fair journal.

Photographer Annie Leibovitz shot four separate covers for the magazine, on newsstands nationally June 6, to rejoice the fortieth anniversary of the sci-fi movie franchise, and hype the subsequent episode: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) strike a decided cliffside pose in a single of the covers, which begs the apparent query: Is one of them “The Last Jedi”? “The Drive Awakens” ended with Rey handing a lightsaber to Skywalker and pictures from “Jedi” revealed in March shed a bit mild on their preliminary encounter.

Darksiders Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Capt. Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Basic Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) look a bit ticked off of their cowl shot. Ren is little question nonetheless smarting from his beatdown by the hands of Rey in “Drive Awakens” and it’s cool to see Christie with out her helmet on.

Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and his buddy Finn (John Boyega) carry alongside BB-8 and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) — a Resistance upkeep employee — for the third cowl. We’ll sit up for extra of Poe’s flying abilities, and for Finn to reunite with Rey.

Gen. Leia (Carrie Fisher) graces the ultimate cowl by herself. Fisher died in December, however Vanity Fair calls her “a determine central to the Star Wars universe from the very outset” and guarantees reflections from the cast and director Rian Johnson on the actress’s “singular vitality and heat enthusiasm.”
