Microsoft has quietly employed a veteran of Amazon’s retail enterprise, Suresh Kumar, as its new company vp answerable for cloud infrastructure and operations, a important place because the Redmond firm competes in opposition to Google, Amazon and plenty of others within the booming marketplace for cloud computing.
The rent, disclosed on Kumar’s LinkedIn page, was first reported by analyst Dave Ohara, as noted by GigaOM earlier today. GigaOM says Kumar will report to Microsoft exec Scott Guthrie and substitute Dayne Sampson, who’s listed as company VP of Microsoft’s International Basis Providers on LinkedIn.
