Thanks to Amazon earnings, Jeff Bezos is now the world’s 10th richest person

Transfer over old-world retail billionaires.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is now “richer than three of the 4 Wal-Mart heirs,” according to Bloomberg.

Bezos’ web value acquired an enormous bump from Amazon’s first quarter, which beat expectations with revenues of $22.72 billion and sent the company’s stock soaring.

Bloomberg reported that Bezos’ “fortune jumped $4.9 billion to $40 billion, making him the world’s 10th-richest person.”

Wal-Mart’s Christy Walton, Sam’s daughter-in-law, is the solely Wal-Mart inheritor who is on par with Bezos now.

If you happen to haven’t checked out Bloomberg Billionaires Index, you need to. It’s a Cliff’s Notes-like romp by the richest individuals in the world, with little illustrations for his or her heads. You may see Bezos at No. 10 under:

[Correction: The size of the increase in Bezos’ fortune was incorrectly stated in an earlier version of this story.]
